The Industrial Revolution had a big effect on music and music composition as well as literature, and fine art. Before factories and mass production of goods, instruments were made imperfectly by hand. This narrowed the capability of even the most advanced musicians. Composers had to write music based on the abilities of the musicians therefore they were extremely restricted. After the Industrial Revolution opened doors for instrument production, the music industry flourished. Ludwig van Beethoven, a classical composer was greatly influenced by the Romantic era, which sprung from the Industrial Revolution. Beethoven is one of the most impactful composers of his time and his music is still prominent today. If he had been born before the Industrial Revolution, his work would have been limited by technological restrictions. He is only one example of the many composers effected by the technological reforms of the Industrial Revolution.
